New Scoring Tower at Homestead-Miami to Debut this Weekend
Press ReleaseLeader board will “improve viewing experience of every guest” during IndyCar,
Grand-Am and NASCAR Championship Weekends at THE Championship Track

Energy Resources SpeedJam Championships, they’ll be a part of history: Homestead-Miami is the only venue ever to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championships in one season—the IndyCar Series and Grand-Am Rolex Sports Cars this coming weekend (Oct. 9-10), and NASCAR’s series-crowning Ford Championship Weekend Nov. 20-22.
And fans will have an upgraded view of that history, as they will be greeted by a brand new stateof- the art scoring tower featuring the most advanced technology available to motorsports. Under construction since late-May, the new leader board will provide fans unprecedented illustration and recap of all the on-track action—including this weekend following the second-closest Championship points standings margin in IndyCar Series history; as well as NASCAR’s Nov. 22 Sprint Cup Championship, which will feature Championship contenders Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and South Florida-resident Juan Pablo Montoya.
“Our goal always will be to improve the racing experience for our fans: Championship events demand world-class amenities, and that’s what we’re delivering,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray. “Our race fans will be able to follow their favorite driver in the action on the track and enjoy real-time Championship point standings and race position. We expect the IndyCar, Grand-Am and NASCAR Championships all to come down to the wire, and fans will be able to track all of the drama on this new leader board.”
Indeed, the new tower stands 158 feet above sea level and features tilted video panels tailored to the layout of Homestead-Miami Speedway. LED displays residing on either side of a 90-foot scoring pylon feature Panasonic video technology that provides high-resolution graphics and animation, and easy-to-view statistical information.
“The higher resolution of these new LED panels is incredible, and will mean sharper images and enhanced viewing for every fan, regardless of seat location,” said Gray.
“Panasonic offers a unique ability to integrate a diverse range of products, to offer design consultation and to provide a comprehensive system solution for Homestead-Miami Speedway,” said Joseph Taylor, EVP/COO of Panasonic Corporation of North America. “This combination of skills enables us to provide a customized solution to Homestead-Miami Speedway, helping achieve their requirements cost effectively while enhancing the overall fan experience.”
It’s motorsports history in 2009 as Homestead-Miami Speedway becomes the first venue ever to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championships: the IndyCar, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car and Firestone Indy Lights Series during the NextEra Energy Resources SpeedJam Championships Oct. 9-10; and NASCAR’s Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series during
Ford Championship Weekend Nov. 20-22. Great seats for all six 2009 championships are available now by calling (866) 409-RACE or visiting THEChampionshipTrack.com.
