Johnson takes win and points lead
Caught in the Catchfence™In contrast to a week ago, when Kansas Speedway was kind to many Chase contenders, Sunday’s Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., perhaps hindered several Chasers’ shot at a championship and maybe even eliminated some drivers’ title hopes.
From pit road miscues to on-track accidents, at least half of the Chase contenders had problems of at least some sort on Sunday, and for some it was just one thing after another.
Even eventual race winner Jimmie Johnson wasn’t immune. Johnson’s No. 48 crew lost him spots on pit road on more than one occasion, but the team bounced back as the driver made up the spots on the racetrack — going on to lead the most laps and win his second race of this year’s Chase and his fifth of the season to take over for Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin as the points leader.- Full Story by Amanda Vincent – Louisville NASCAR Examiner
