David Gilliland Quotes:

What’s challenging about racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway?

“In my opinion, the biggest challenge about racing at Lowe Motor Speedway is how weather affects the sensitivity of the track. Starting the race in the afternoon when it’s warmer and then it progresses into a colder night, so it’s up to the driver and team to keep up with these changes in the track that will affect the handling of the car.”

With all the teams being located close to Lowe’s Motor Speedway – does it put a little more pressure on teams to do well in front of everyone who works at the shops?

“Absolutely, it’s for home town bragging rights! A lot of employees at the shops are able to bring their families, and everyone wants to show what they’ve been working so hard on throughout the year.”

Lowe’s Motor Speedway was the first track to install lights – do you enjoy racing at night and does it produce better racing for the fans?

“Yes, I love racing at night. The track has more grip at night, which makes for fast and exciting racing. As for the fans, with it being at night they get to see all the sparks from the cars – it makes the entire atmosphere different.”

Joe Gibbs Racing is a respected organization – what does it mean to you to be given the shot to drive for this team, with a sponsor like Farm Bureau Insurance?

“It’s a once in a life time opportunity, and I’m blessed to have three shots with Joe Gibbs Racing and Farm Bureau Insurance! Having the opportunity to have a sponsor like Farm Bureau Insurance seems to go hand in hand with Joe Gibbs Racing, especially considering both companies are such highly respected organizations.”

What would it mean to put Farm Bureau Insurance and their over 4,000 agents in Victory Lane for the first time in 2009?

“It would mean the world to me to put Farm Bureau Insurance in Victory Lane.”

What are your goals and expectations for this weekend in the No. 02 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota?

“The number one goal is to get qualified in and make the race. After that, my GOAL is to put the No. 02 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota in victory lane, but my expectation is a solid top-10 finish.”

Fun Fact: What is your favorite Hobby (other than racing)?

“When I have some time away from the track, I love to ride quads (4-wheelers).”
