The last week has been a tale of two extremes for Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 team. After a lap three incident resulted in a 38th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend, Johnson bounced back int the most dominating way possible in Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Front row starter Kurt Busch led the first 60 or so laps after getting by pole sitter Martin Truex Jr. on lap one. But when third-place starter Johnson got to the front, he went on to lead over three quarters of the race on his way to the win.

Truex held on to post a top-five finish, finishing in the fifth position, and Busch finished sixth. - Full Story by Amanda Vincent – Louisville NASCAR Examiner
