“Absolutly, it definitely gives me confidence. We qualified great in this chassis and we ran strong early – it’s unfortunate that bad luck bite us with a hole in our tire. I expect  good things this weekend in the Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota.”

You have one more race with Joe Gibbs Racing and Farm Bureau Insurance – in your opinion, what have you learned in the first two races and what have been some of the positives and negatives?

“It always takes a while to get to know your crew chief, the cars, the team – there are numerous factors that have to go right and it can be tough with such a small amount of time (three races). Still, each race Wally (Brown) and I have communicated better, as well as the team has gotten really strong on pit-stops and making the right adjustments throughout the race.”

What has it been like having Farm Bureau Insurance and all their agents behind you each weekend?

“They’re fun to be around that’s for sure. I can see why they’re one of the leaders in Insurance, so I’m sure their customers get that same excitement. Each time I go to the Farm Bureau Insurance (hospitality) tent everyone is on their feet and excited to see me – that enthusiasm is contagious. It’s been an honor to represent all their agents and customers.”

What are some of the challenges about racing at Homestead Miami Speedway?

“Homestead can be a tricky track for numerous reasons. It seems as if your car either performs well their or it doesn’t. A few things that factor in is it’s unusual shape, with it being banked or flat in different areas, in addition keeping up with adjustments is also important. We usually start during the day and end right as the sun goes down, so changes to the track conditions could force us to keep up with the handling of our Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota.”

Do you have any fun off-season plans?

“Not that much besides spend time with my family. One thing that I’m excited about is going to the Glamis  Dunes to ride my four wheelers. It’s just miles and miles of sand – so much fun. Other than that, work on getting on the track in 2010.”

Fun Fact: What is your favorite sport besides NASCAR and do you play any other sports?

“Other than racing, I guess my favorite sport is fishing.”
