Several important pieces of Indianapolis Motor Speedway history – bricks from the racing surface and the contract between IMS and Wabash Clay Company for purchase the bricks in September 1909 – will be on display in the IMS Administration Building lobby from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17.

The final, ceremonial brick was laid in place Dec. 17, 1909, completing the track repaving which gave IMS its iconic nickname, “The Brickyard.” To commemorate the important day in IMS history, fans and media are invited to view and take photos of the pieces on display.
