Dexter Bean’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut Cut Short At Dover
Press Release“Mechanical issues bring the day to an early halt”
WESTBY, WI, June 1, 2009 –Just as the drivers fired their engines, on Friday, May 29 for the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway, rain came falling from the sky at an alarming rate and fans were urged to seek shelter. The rain continued throughout the night and NASCAR was forced to move the truck race to Saturday, May 30 following the NASCAR Nationwide Series race.
After qualifying in the 27th starting position, Bean had fought his way up to the 12th position when a broken rear end forced him to park the No. 12 LiveWire Energy Chews Chevy Silverado on lap 38 and finish the race in the 27th position.
“Dover was such an intense racetrack, I wish I was able to run the whole race because we had a top-10 truck for sure,” said Bean, driver of the No.12 DGM Racing entry. “This experience has given me the preparation I need for when we bring the cup (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) car back here to Dover and the seat time I need for when we run the trucks again in Michigan and Milwaukee later this month.”
Bean’s next race will be the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pocono 500 at Pocono Raceway. Tune in to watch qualifying on SPEED at 3:30 p.m. ET, Friday, June 5, 2009. The race will be broadcast on TNT at 12:30 p.m. ET, Sunday, June 7, 2009.
