Advertisment

Houston native Jason Young will make his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series this Saturday as part of the SS Green Light No. 07 team. This weekend’s race is the 11th of the series and will be held at Memphis Motorsports Park, the site where Ron Hornaday claimed victory in last year’s venue. The 26-year-old Young will be driving the team’s No. 07 Chevy Silverado as part of his one-race deal, temporarily replacing incumbent driver Chad McCumbee, who was unable to secure a sponsor for the Memphis race.

Young is no stranger to the racetrack, having begun his racing career at the age of 12. His credentials include numerous state, regional, and national kart championships, and later into his career, he was a Texas state champion in the Legends ranks and also the Texas Super Late Model champion in 2007. Young has competed in and managed top finishes in the Snowflake 100 and the Snowball Derby, and has traveled the Southeast extensively. Citing his desire to learn heavier trucks and receive the opportunity to be a NASCAR regular, Young is eager to showcase his abilities.
