Jason Young Returns to SS Green Light Racing
Press ReleaseMooresville, NC – Tuesday, July 28, 2009 – Jason Young will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Saturday’s running of the Toyota Tundra 200 in SS Green Light Racing’s No. 07 at the Nashville Superspeedway.
A 26 year-old native of Houston, Texas made his NASCAR debut in the series one month ago driving the No. 07 3BR Chevy Silverado in Memphis. Young was involved in an early altercation being hit from behind and spun into the inside wall forcing him to the garage for repairs and finished a disappointing 24th place. Young hopes to change the fortunes of Memphis with his return to the Truck Series at the Nashville Superspeedway this weekend.
The former Texas Super Late Model Champ feels he has something to prove this weekend. “We didn’t get to race much at Memphis so I’m really looking forward to this weekend. The truck that Bobby is prepping has run well at Nashville in the past so I’m hoping we can pick-up right where they left off. I need to be able to run solid laps and get a good feel for these trucks so we can get more opportunities down the road.”
Nashville Superspeedway is one of a handful of tracks on the NCWTS whose concrete surface makes it different than the more common asphalt. “One of the short tracks that I run in the Houston area has concrete corners so I’ve had some experience on the concrete. I’m sure it will be a whole lot different at the speeds we will be running on the Superspeedway,” explained Young. “I’ve talked to several people who have raced there and I know the track has a lot of grip, but it’s tricky to get around because it’s so fast. I’m just really looking forward to my first NASCAR race on a speedway.”
Bobby Dotter, Crew Chief and co-owner of SS Green Light Racing is pleased to have Young return to the No. 07. “Jason really never had a chance back in Memphis, he slowed for a truck with a flat in front of him and was run over from behind. He didn’t have time to show us his talent behind the wheel.” He continued, “We were all very impressed with Jason in our first run together and the whole SS Green Light team is looking forward to the opportunity to work with him again.”
There are 33 trucks on the pre-entry list for The Toyota Tundra 200. Practices will be on Friday, July 31st with qualifying Saturday August 1st at 2:30pm and racing at 7:00 pm Eastern. All the action can be seen live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR channel 128.
