Todd Bodine; Ventrilo Tundra Has Shortened Night at Bristol
Press Release“I’m sorry guys, I’ve got to accept the blame on that one,” was Bodine’s short, heartfelt transmission over the team radio at the conclusion of the O’Reilly 200.
At the start of the race, Bodine had quickly steered the Ventrilo Tundra through the field up to 22nd-place. He then settled in around the 25th position after he told his crew chief, Mike Hillman Jr., that the Ventrilo Tundra was too loose and would need to be fixed when it came time to bring the truck to the Ventrilo pit crew on pit road for service.
“The Ventrilo Tundra was a solid race truck, but we needed to make a few changes to it on pit road to get it better for Todd for the long night of Bristol racing. We had a plan in place with what we needed to fix, but we didn’t get the chance to work on it. We know what our team is capable of and that tonight we didn’t get a finish that matches it. What we’re focused on now is taking the Ventrilo Tundra to Chicagoland next weekend to see if we can’t be in the history books as the first Truck Series team to win at Chicagoland,” said Hillman Jr.
Bodine was racing under a fellow Tundra driver at lap 36 when the Ventrilo Tundra suddenly slid up the track and collected the other race truck in turn two. The crash damage put the Ventrilo Tundra behind pit wall for repairs for more than 60 laps, which resulted in a 32nd-place finish for the Ventrilo Tundra.
Prior to Wednesday’s race at Bristol, Bodine had missed only one lap of Truck Series competition at Bristol – an impressive statistic that was a strong complement to Bodine’s two Bristol wins in NASCAR’s second-tier series. Bodine races the Ventrilo Tundra again on Friday night, August 28th, in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the Joliet, Ill., race track.
