Brian Scott Finishes 19th At Las Vegas
Press Release“Idaho Native Still Fourth In NCWTS Points Chase”
Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 26, 2009) – A blown right front tire on his No. 16 Albertsons/Stratosphere Toyota Tundra forced Brian Scott hard into the outside retaining wall on lap 118 of Saturday night’s Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The resulting damage effectively ended Scott’s competitive bid and relegated the Boise, ID native to a disappointing 19th place finish. Scott started the event mid pack after a 21st place qualifying run. When the green flag fell Scott methodically drove his way forward. When Tayler Malsam spun on lap 3, Scott was slammed in the left side by the No. 15 driven by Brian Ickler. The contact caused significant damage to the front left spoiler and forced lengthy repairs during a pit stop sequence on laps 50 and 51. Scott restarted the event in the 22nd position and was able to claw his way back into contention during the next long green flag segment. Scott climbed as high as the fourth spot during green flag pit stops for fuel only. He made his stop for fuel on lap 116 and exited the pits in the 11th spot. Two laps later his day was basically done as his No. 16 Albertsons/Stratosphere Toyota Tundra shot up the track and made hard contact with the retaining wall in turns three and four. After coming down pit road for repairs Scott was able to limp home in 19th, two laps down to the leaders.“I am really disappointed to say the least,” Scott added after the event. “The truck was actually pretty decent during that long green flag run. Fortunately we were able to hold on to the fourth spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points race. We will just have to regroup and get ready for Martinsville. I want to thank all the great folks from the Stratosphere for hosting our Xpress Motorsports team. We just wish we would have had a better day for them.”
Johnny Sauter won the Las Vegas 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He was joined in the top-five by Matt Crafton, Jason White, Todd Bodine and Timothy Peters. The next race for the NCWTS is the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. The event is slated for Saturday October 19th and will be telecast live on SPEED at 1:00pm ET. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR channel 128.
