Las Vegas, N.V. (Feb. 25, 2010) – After the first two NASCAR Nationwide Series races of the season, a 36th place finish in Daytona and a 39th in California, Roush Fenway rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has been using the old cliché “if I didn’t have bad luck, then I’d have no luck at all.” In those two events, Stenhouse was a victim of another driver’s misfortune. This weekend in Las Vegas, the twenty-two year old who’s No. 6 Ford Fusion will be white and unsponsored, is hoping his luck changes. Despite being 37th in the Nationwide Series point standings, Stenhouse is confident about his first race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Roush Fenway Racing has five wins in 31 starts at LVMS and his teammate Greg Biffle is the defending champion of the Sam’s Town 300.

“I’ve never raced in Las Vegas but I was there last year when Greg (Biffle) won,” said Stenhouse. “That was a great race; my teammates Greg and Carl (Edwards) were battling it out for the win. Even though I’ve been there before, I haven’t made any laps around there so it’ll take a few laps to get used to it like it did in California last week. I have played it on video games but that’s never exactly how it is. It did, however, get me a little familiar with some of the surroundings.”

“We just have to go there and get the job done. I feel like its tough because the other people we’re racing, it seems like everyone has raced there before, so it’s definitely tough. I’ve got to figure out my line and how far to run the car in, I’ve got to learn a lot in short amount of time, it’s definitely difficult but I’ve got to get it done.”

Stenhouse continued, “Everyone does talk about getting lucky in Vegas. Hopefully we can get everything put together and have a strong run with good pit stops. I’d say 60 percent of the time you’d rather be lucky than good. The competition is so good out there that you need some luck to have a breakthrough race.”

The NASCAR Nationwide Series hits Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday Feb. 26 for practice at 2 p.m. EST and final practice at 4:40 p.m. EST. Qualifying for the Sam’s Club 300 begins on Saturday, Feb. 27 at noon EST. The green flag waves later that afternoon for the start of the race at 4:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio beginning at 4:00 p.m. EST.
