Curt Tori is eager to climb up the racing ladder. The ARCA Racing Series is a lower rung for young drivers who want to garner the attention of NASCAR team owners.

The Wilmington resident will strap himself into his No. 33 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Pocono Raceway on Saturday afternoon for the Weis Markets 125.

It will mark the fourth career ARCA start for Tori, a 25-year-old who has been around motorsports his entire life and has had aspirations of becoming a NASCAR driver for nearly as long.

A strong run Saturday could open up some doors down the road for Tori.

“I’m really excited to get the chance to race at Pocono again,” said Tori, who finished 27th in an ARCA race at Pocono in June. “We had a little bit of issues that hurt us the last time. We were running good until we had a problem with the engine overheating.

“We think we’ve got that problem fixed and have a lot better chance this time.”

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup stars will take on Pocono’s tricky 2 1/2-mile triangle on Sunday.
