Tim George Jr. Returns To Toledo Speedway This Weekend
Press Release
While George has yet to record an ARCA Racing Series win, the strong efforts of late have the New York, N.Y. native upbeat as he enters round 17 of 20 this weekend at Toledo Speedway. As the season has shaped thus far, for better or worse, with the asphalt oval being the next test for the No. 31 team via this weekend’s 200-lap race.
“We have been at or near the top of the board speed-wise for most of the last several races,” said George. “That big win seems to be eluding us. I’m really focused on finishing every race first, and a win would really give me some momentum rolling into 2011.”
In the past spring event at Toledo Speedway – operated by the ARCA Racing Series – the driver of the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Chevrolet Impala for Richard Childress Racing saw a victory snatched away from him. In fact, “derailed” would be the most appropriate title for George’s recent misfortune at Toledo. Perhaps at George’s biggest test of the 2010 season, in his third visit to the track, he was involved in a mid-race incident to finish a disappointing 25th after running strong throughout the day.
“Toledo is one of the marquis tracks for ARCA,” said George, who has seen more than his fair share of “racin’ deals” at Toledo, especially of late. “I feel like we have been very competitive with our short track package in general and I’m looking forward to going there for the second time this season.”
George has three career starts at the ultra-fast track, debuting in the 2009.
George has piloted his No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Development Chevrolet Impala to 9th in the championship driver standings, where he is only 450 points behind the series leaders tied for first in the standings.
In his second year as a driver, and first with RCR, the 2008 Grand-Am Rolex Rookie of the Year wants to, in the immortal words of broadcaster and former RCR crew chief Larry McReynolds, “Keep on keepin’ on” in search of his first victory.
The road to Toledo Speedway redemption begins Saturday, as George takes to the track for practice starting at 12:30 PM. Sunday’s 100-mile Northwest Ohio Dealers at Toledo Speedway with race coverage, including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network at arcaracing.com, will begin at 2:00 P.M. EST. Tune into the ARCA Racing Network at http://www.arcaracing.com for live timing and scoring and live radio coverage from the BAS Racing Network.
