With just 20 points separating the top three drivers in 2010, and with just two races remaining, it’s going to again come down to the final event at Rockingham.
However, there is one very important title that will be decided immediately following the Kansas Lottery 150 at Kansas Speedway September 30.
ARCA will crown its Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Champion following the 150-mile race at Kansas. Currently, the Sheltra Motorsports No. 60 team (car owner & driver Patrick Sheltra) is leading the superspeedway points headed into Kansas by 90 over Win-Tron Racing (car owner Kevin Cywinski and driver Justin Marks).
“We’ve worked hard this year to improve our overall speedway program. We’ve always been good on the restrictor plate tracks but as a team, we’ve put extra effort into our mile and a half program this year,” Sheltra said.
“Our success on those tracks has allowed us a comfortable lead in the ARCA Superspeedway Challenge going into Kansas Speedway next week. We could not have done so well this year without the help of Toyota and Triad Racing Technologies, who have been excellent partners with Sheltra Motorsports this year. I cannot thank my guys enough too for their endless efforts. While we’re going for the overall championship, it sure would be nice to bring home the Superspeedway title too.”
Sheltra’s average superspeedway finish is an impressive fourth in 2010 to Justin Marks’ 6.6. Sheltra, who has not finished outside the top-seven on superspeedways this year, finished first at Chicagoland, second at Talladega, third at Michigan, fourth at Pocono, fifth at Daytona, sixth at Pocono and seventh at Texas.
