Kansas City, KS (October 4, 2010)- An open testing session at Kansas Speedway a week prior to the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards event kick started yet another top-10 finish for Win-Tron Racing and Justin Marks on Thursday night. The team went to work during the full day of testing last Tuesday and found many changes they could make to their No. 32 KartSport NA Toyota Camry to improve the handling and speed prior to the points paying event on Thursday, Sept. 30th. After returning to the shop, the team had one week to make some wholesale changes they felt were necessary to their race car before returning to battle at the 1.5 mile oval.

After unloading for Thursday morning’s early practice session, the team overcame a starter issue at the start of the day, replacing the malfunctioning part and sending their driver out for work. Marks reported a fast racecar during the two hour practice session and Crew Chief Mike Chaffee made only a few changes before Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell. A 31.883 second lap was good enough to place the Win-Tron Racing team and Marks in the sixth starting position for the Kansas Lottery 150.

Following a quick caution period that fell on the track on the second lap of the day, Marks maintained his position well within the top ten for the next 40 laps under green before coming down pit road for the first round of stops under the second caution on lap 46. After a few changes and fresh tires on the Kart Sport North America Toyota Camry to remedy a loose condition in turns three and four, Marks restarted in the ninth position and once again clicked off laps while holding his position.

A fast paced race with very few cautions left teams with very few chances to make changes to their cars within the 100 lap event. The trend of green flag racing continued on for the next 40 laps as Marks’ Toyota continued to pick up speed the longer he ran. With less than 15 laps remaining, Marks was poised and ready in the seventh position, ready to go after a top five finish, when the third and final caution flag came out on lap 86. Opting to pit with the rest of the leaders, Marks came down pit for four tires and adjustments from the crew to get him through the final restart to the checkers.

Stepping off of pit road in the seventh position for the restart with eight laps remaining, Marks fortunately avoided a stack up on the restart, but unfortunately lost three positions in the mix up and crossed the stripe in 10th.

“Our car was really good on the long runs, so that last restart kind of killed our chances a little bit,” Marks expressed. “The Kart Sport North America Toyota doesn’t have a scratch on it and we had a fairly clean race. The guys did a great job putting this car back together after the test and made a lot of changes this week. I’m confident heading into the last race at Rockingham and ready to finish out this season on a high note.”

Marks’ 13th top-10 finish of the season helped him maintain the fifth spot in the championship point standings, tied with Venturini Motorsports driver Mikey Kile. Rockingham will be a big weekend for Win-Tron racing as they hope to close out the season with another strong finish not only for the championship points, but also for “Laps That Matter”, a unique charity event the team and driver created to raise money for The V Foundation.
