Notes of Interest:

  • Brian Vickers returns to Braun Racing for his fourth season in 2010, marking his ninth year of competition in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.  His NASCAR career started at The Milwaukee Mile in 2001.
  • Vickers will share the seat of the No. 32 Dollar General entry this season with teammate, Reed Sorenson.  Vickers will pilot the Toyota for 10 events, while Sorenson will be behind the wheel for 23 races.
  • Trent Owens returns as crew chief of the No. 32 Dollar General team in the Nationwide Series.  He will also serve as crew chief of the Dollar General Toyota in the Sprint Cup Series, which makes its debut at Daytona International Speedway.
  • In 10 Nationwide Series starts at Daytona, Vickers has collected two top-five and five top-10 finishes.  His best career Nationwide Series start at the Daytona Beach-based speedway is fourth (July, 2005) and his best finish is second (June, 2006).

Vickers on racing at Daytona Int’l Speedway with Braun Racing:

“It’s great to be back at Daytona International Speedway in the Dollar General Toyota.  I love restrictor plate racing!  You’re always plotting your next move—just like a chess match, except you’re driving 200 mph.  It’s a lot of fun!  The Dollar General team came so close to winning last year.  I feel a win with them is coming really soon.  Trent (Owens) and the guys bring great cars to the track.  I have no doubt that with a little luck in avoiding the “big one,” we’ll be running up towards the front and be contenders for the win.”

Equipment Information

The No. 32 Dollar General team will compete with chassis #026 in this weekend’s Drive4COPD 300.  This is the same chassis that Vickers ran at Daytona in both races 2009. This Camry has finished in the top-10 for each Daytona appearance (2007-2009) and was about to do so in July, 2008 when a drive shaft broke, ending the day early for Vickers and the No. 32 Dollar General team.
