MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 28, 2010) – Braun Racing is pleased to announce that Kelly Bires will pilot the No. 10 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry in Friday night’s BUBBA Burger 250 at Richmond International Raceway. Pending additional sponsorship, the team hopes to have the opportunity to run Bires in additional races throughout the 2010 season.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to drive some races for Braun Racing this season,” said Bires. “I have developed a good relationship with Todd Braun and all the guys on the team over the last couple of years, so this is a great fit for me. I drove the No. 10 Toyota last year at Iowa Speedway and finished fifth. For a first outing that isn’t too bad. I expect that with Stewart Cooper calling the shots for me again, we will be able to pick up right where we left off.”

Bires, the 2006 American Speed Association (ASA) Late Model Series Champion, came onto the NASCAR scene in 2007 to drive in the Camping World Truck Series for Wood Brothers Racing. After several impressive performances and with a seat opening up with JTG Racing, Bires moved up to the Nationwide Series. In 2008, Bires boasted six top-10 finishes en route to finishing 13th in the series point standings. When the team closed its doors at the end of the season, Bires was left without a ride. He raced for several teams throughout 2009, including Braun Racing.

Braun Racing owner, Todd Braun, has long admired Bires’ talent and is glad to have him join the team in 2010.

“We are very happy to have Kelly join our lineup of talented drivers this season,” said Braun. “He is a talented young driver whose ability has been greatly underrated. We look forward to seeing his performance this weekend in Richmond and hope to be able to field him in the No. 10 car for more races in the future.”
