LEBANON, Tenn. – NASCAR drivers, media and fans agree, Nashville Superspeedway has one of the most recognizable and coveted trophies in NASCAR – the Sam Bass-designed Gibson Les Paul trophy guitar. Fans of Nashville Superspeedway will have the opportunity to get their hands on another special, commemorative guitar following the “Federated Auto Parts 300” NASCAR Nationwide Series race on June 5, 2010, by placing their bid in a NASCAR Foundation online auction following the race.

The guitar, a Nashville Superspeedway-themed custom Gibson Les Paul designed by NASCAR artist Sam Bass, will be autographed by Grammy-nominated Warner Bros. recording artist John Rich, Bass and the winning NASCAR Nationwide Series driver of the Federated Auto Parts 300 race at Nashville Superspeedway on June 5. The guitar is a one-time design and proceeds from the auction will benefit Hands On Nashville, a volunteer agency assisting those affected most by the recent floods in Middle Tennessee.

Fans can log on to NashvilleSuperspeedway.com to see photos of the guitar and place their bid by clicking on the “Flood Relief Guitar Auction” icon. The auction will be live starting on June 5 at 8 p.m. CT and will end on June 14 at 8 p.m. CT.

“I was anxious to do something to help, and when Nashville Superspeedway approached me about doing something to raise money for those in need in Middle Tennessee, I jumped at the chance,” said Sam Bass, NASCAR’s first officially licensed artist. “The city of Nashville means so much to me. I love the community and the whole music environment in Nashville. It’s a great racing town, a great music town, and everything that I am all about in my life,” he continued.

“To be able to do something that combines the two things that I’m most interested in, and to hopefully do a lot of good, help a lot of people, and raise a lot of money, is pretty special.”
