Lap Car Spins Scott Lagasse Jr. Ending Promising Weekend
Press Release
“We had a really fast car all weekend and to have the day end prematurely due to a lap car being overly aggressive is very frustrating,” said Lagasse Jr. “You expect a lap car to be more respectful of cars on the lead lap but that wasn’t the case. I’m really proud of all the guys at Baker Curb Racing for preparing such a good car. We made a lot of changes this week and we definitely had a car that was capable of a top-5 finish. We fell back a little bit early in the race but the car was getting dialed in as the race went along and was very strong on the long runs.”
In the early stages of the race Lagasse Jr. communicated that his No. 43 Ford Fusion was a little loose as he fell out of the top 10. Just before a caution occurred on lap 62, the Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion was turning lap times faster than the leaders. When pit road opened, the St. Augustine, Fla. Native brought his car down pit road where the Baker Curb Racing crew put on four fresh tires, made a trackbar adjustment, filled it with fuel and returned him to the track scored in the 13th position.
The Nashville resident continued to run near the top 15 as the race progressed. When another caution occurred on lap 84, Lagasse Jr. brought his No. 43 back down pit road where the crew put on four fresh tires, unhooked the rear sway bar. Lagasse Jr. was scored in the 18th position when the race restarted on lap 89. He quickly picked up two spots and settled into the 16th position before the incident with Annett occurred.
Lagasse Jr. will be back in action Saturday when the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Kentucky Speedway for the Meijer 300 on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
