Coleman Heads to Kentucky to Reclaim Checkered Flags

Coleman won an impressive ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway in 2006, beating nine-time champion Frank Kimmel in a double green-white-checkered finish. Coleman also finished second in a Nationwide Series race at the 1.5-mile track in 2007, with Ratcliff serving as his crew chief, and now wants to reclaim those flags.
“We worked our way to the front and lead for most of the second half of the race,” said Coleman. “We were way out front when the yellow flag dropped for an incident in the back of the field. Stephen Leicht’s car was better in the short runs and he beat me to the finish line to win the race. I was happy for him but extremely disappointed for our team. It’s time to reclaim those checkered flags.”
Coleman qualified second and put forth a solid effort to finish sixth at Nashville Superspeedway last weekend in his first race back since last August at Montreal. Reunited with crew chief Jason Ratcliff, Coleman performed well and was the highest finishing Toyota in the field.
In four career starts at Kentucky across the Nationwide and ARCA series, Coleman has one victory, two runner-up finishes and one 15th-place finish. Now, he has his sights set on another good run, this time at a track where he has visited Victory Lane.
“I have some unfinished business in Kentucky,” smiled Coleman. “The Penske cars are really good right now and will be right up front but I hope to be right there with them. My teammate, Joey Logano, has had phenomenal success here and I look forward to racing with him. This is shaping up to be a great weekend.”
Coleman and the No. 18 will carry sponsorship from Sandvik Coromant at Kentucky.
