Sparta, Ky. (June 14, 2010) – Michael Annett made his 50th career NASCAR
Nationwide Series start this weekend at Kentucky Speedway, a track where
both he and Germain Racing have a strong history. Last year Annett made a
top-10 performance with his seventh place finish at Kentucky Speedway, and
was en route to another top-10 finish on the 1.5 mile tri-oval on Saturday
when he was collected in a crash with 44 laps to go.

From the start, Annett raced his way through the field from his 26th
starting position. With fast lap times and pit strategy in the team’s
favor, the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers team was on pace to beat their best
finish of the year, ninth at Nashville Superspeedway in April.

The first caution of the race was called on lap 21, and crew chief Ryan
“Rudy” Fugle made the call for fuel only on the No. 15 Germain Racing
pit crew’s first stop of the night. Annett restarted seventh. Able to
stay at the front of the pack and battle for his position in the top-10,
the second caution of the Meijer 300 was thrown on lap 73.

In the next yellow flag stop, Fugle opted for the No. 15 Pilot Travel
Centers Toyota Camry to take two right side tires, fuel and a slight air
pressure adjustment. Annett then restarted the 200 lap race second.

Running in ninth on lap 156 and looking ahead to scoring a top-five or
top-10 finish, Annett was collected in a wreck when the No. 38, No. 98 and
No. 66 cars attempted to go three wide in front of him. With damage too
severe for repair, the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers car was forced to the
garage for the night, an unfortunate end to a promising race for Annett.

“It was unfortunate that our good night turned out to have a bad ending.
Running our best race of the season and getting taken out with 40 laps to
go was a big disappointment. We have a good history at Kentucky Speedway,
and we’d been looking forward to this race all year. We knew we had the
car to bring home a really respectable finish, and Rudy made some good pit
calls to get us where we needed to be to battle it out at the end,” said
Annett.

“We ran in the top-10 throughout the majority of the race, and we were
definitely on our way to our best finish so far this season,” said
Fugle. “We had really impressive pit stops all night and Michael was
continually running fast lap times on the track. Our No. 15 Pilot Travel
Centers team was on the way to a strong top-10 finish. I’m sure of that.
There was nothing Michael could’ve done to steer clear of the accident.
I’m just proud that we could show our team’s strength.”

The Nationwide Series will now compete in their first road course race of
the season at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. The Bucyrus 200 presented
by Menards will be the first ever NASCAR race on the 4.048, 14 turn Road
America road course. The Nationwide Series Bucyrus 200 presented by
