Notes of Interest:

· Reed Sorenson returns to Daytona International Speedway (DIS) with the NASCAR Nationwide Series! Although he tested the “New Car” there in May, it has been three years since Sorenson has raced a Nationwide Series car at the Daytona Beach-based superspeedway. He made his debut at the track at only 19 years old on February 19, 2005. Brian Vickers was originally scheduled to drive in the Friday night event; however, health complications have sidelined the former Nationwide Series champion for the remainder of the 2010 season.

· By the numbers at Daytona… In his six previous Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, Sorenson has started inside the top-10 four times and has earned three top-10 finishes. His average starting position is 11.2 with his career best start of fifth coming in his first start at the track in February, 2005. His best finish of seventh was in his last NNS start at the track (July, 2007).

· Swinging the clubs for a good cause! Sorenson, an avid golfer, played in the CapTech Drive Charity Golf Tournament on Monday at Salisbury Country Club in Richmond, Virginia. Some of the proceeds will benefit his good friends, Hermie and Elliott Sadler’s foundation.

· Chassis #101 is ready for its debut at Daytona International Speedway! As the NASCAR Nationwide Series gets set to debut the “New Car”, the Dollar General team heads to DIS this weekend with #101, the same car they tested there with in May.

· The Dollar General team is SIXTH in the Nationwide Series Championship Owner’s Points.

Sorenson on racing at Daytona:

“With restrictor plate racing, you never really know what is going to happen. The biggest thing is to keep the fenders on until the end of the race and avoid the inevitable ‘big one.’ This is my first superspeedway race with the Dollar General team and everyone’s first race with the ‘New Car.’ There are still a lot of unknowns with these cars, but the extra track time this week will help everyone.

This is always an exciting race at Daytona, especially because it is at night and under the lights. It’s always Fourth of July weekend, which adds to the festive feeling. Plus, it’s Daytona. It’s a very historical track for our sport and I think every driver feels that when they drive through the tunnel.”

Crew chief, Trent Owens, on the “New Car”:

“I think the ‘New Car’ is going to present new challenges to all of the Nationwide Series teams, both those that are Cup-affiliated and those that are not. Having run some Cup races this year has definitely helped us to have a better understanding of the ‘New Car,’ but the opportunity to test more this Wednesday will still be extremely beneficial. The body isn’t as much a factor with this car as it was with the old style. I do think it will ultimately make for more exciting racing.”

Reed Sorenson on the “New Car”:

“Even though we were here back in May testing these cars, I think it will be really interesting to see how they handle when we are all out there together. I think the field will be a lot more spread out during the race. These cars draft well, running nose to tail. They’re just a handful when another car is on either side of you by even just the slightest bit. You lose a lot of rear grip.”
