BRISTOL, Tenn. (Monday, July 19, 2010) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. always has been a fan of Bristol Motor Speedway where he grew up watching his father rack up nine Sprint Cup wins. His affinity for World’s Fastest Half-Mile has, in fact, only grown over the years.

“As far as I’m concerned, Bristol is one of the best places to see a race,” Earnhardt said. “It’s a fan’s race track. Everybody’s sitting right on top of the race track – they’re so close to the action. There’s nothing else that really compares to that atmosphere. If I was a fan, that’s one track where I’d definitely pay to see a race.”

It has been three years since Earnhardt pulled double duty at BMS, but Aug. 20-21 he will do just that once again, hoping for a repeat of his sweep in 2004.

Six years ago, Earnhardt notched his first Bristol win by capturing the Food City 250 under the lights on a Friday night. When all was said and done Saturday night, he was standing in victory lane with a broom, signifying a weekend sweep after also winning the Sharpie 500.

“It’s been a few years since I drove in both races at Bristol, but I’m looking forward to doing it again. In ’04, we went in there and won on Friday night – which was my first win there ever – and then won again on Saturday night. That was a really cool weekend. I considered it a pretty big deal because for me, Bristol is one of the toughest tracks on the circuit. To go in there and win back-to-back on the same weekend was pretty special.

“It would be great to double up again. I’ll be driving the Realtree Outfitters ride that weekend in the Nationwide Series race, and there’s a lot of people in Bristol that would love to see that camo car win Friday night, as well as the No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard car Saturday. I’ve said this before, but it’s pretty cool to be able to drive up on top of that building to go to victory lane. That’s one of the neatest things in all of NASCAR, getting to celebrate up there.”

A number of Sprint Cup regulars, including Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, will compete in the Food City 250.

August race week kicks off at Bristol Motor Speedway beginning Aug. 18 with a doubleheader, featuring the O’Reilly 200 Camping World Truck Series race and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified Series event. The Food City Nationwide Series race is Friday, Aug. 20, followed by the sport’s most popular race, the IRWIN Tools Night Race Aug. 21.

Tickets for the IRWIN Tools Night Race are available for $109 each. These single-event tickets are renewable. Tickets for the Food City 250 start at $45 while Wednesday night tickets are $30.

Fans also may purchase a three-day package, which features all four NASCAR races, starting at only $170. Fans able to attend just the Friday and Saturday events may purchase a two-day package, beginning at $126.

To purchase tickets, please contact the BMS ticket office at its toll free number 1-866-415-4158 or 423-BRISTOL (274-7865). Tickets also may be purchased at www.bristoltix.com.
