Madison, IL (July 18, 2010) – Paul Menard rolled off the grid in the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealer 250 Nationwide Race in the fifth position on Saturday night at Gateway International Speedway. Menard ran the entire race in the top 10 and right from the start had a fast car that was just a little loose off in turn three. The Richmond/Menards Ford Fusion pit crew had a flawless night and helped Menard gain positions throughout the race. The veteran wheel man battled the heat but stayed focused on the task and brought home a fourth place finish, his second top five finish of the season.

Menard got right to work at the start of the race, taking the third position from Roush Fenway Racing teammate Colin Braun on the third lap of the race despite commenting he had a loose race car.

After 44 green flag laps the caution flew on lap 45 and provided an opportunity for a pit stop. Crew Chief Matt Puccia called Menard in for a track bar adjustment, tires and fuel. The Richmond/Menards pit crew ripped off a fast stop sending Menard back on the track in fifth position, a gain of two positions.

Menard commented his Ford Fusion was a bit loose off in turn three but was able to keep his car in the top five for the next 66 laps. Puccia called him to the pits for a green flag stop on lap 112. The crew pulled off another fast stop removing a right rear spring rubber, adjusting the track bar and taking tires and fuel.

Menard continued in the top ten throughout the night, and avoided multiple wrecks on laps 187 and 194. The veteran kept his Richmond/Menards Ford Fusion clean and finished the race in the fourth position.

“We had a good car tonight,” Menard said, “We had a good car tonight, the team did a great job in the pits. It feels good to run well and get our second top five finish of the season.”

Teammate Carl Edwards went on to win the race at Gateway International Speedway.

The Nationwide Series returns to action at O’Reilly Raceway Park next Saturday July 23, 2010 for the Kroger 200.
