DREW HERRING ON IOWA
“Everything with this deal kind of came together at the last minute and I still can’t believe the opportunity I’ve been presented with. I’m super excited to be making my first career Nationwide Series start with Baker Curb Racing. They’ve been very successful this year and have a bunch of super nice guys on this team. I’m looking forward to getting to Iowa and getting on the track. I haven’t raced in awhile so I’ve got a lot built up inside me and I’m ready to let it all out this weekend! I’ve raced at Iowa Speedway in the Pro Cup Series and have been very successful.
It seems like everyone has that one track that from the first lap you take around it, you just have a good feel for it. For me, it’s definitely Iowa. I feel like the Nationwide car will be similar to what I’ve been running and I’ll be able to transfer my success in the Pro Cup over to this series.”
CREW CHIEF JOHN REESE ON IOWA
“Iowa is a great track with great fans. It will be even more exciting under the lights. With the race being at night, it will change the conditions a little bit. We had our best finish of the year at Iowa last year with Jason Keller, so we’ll have a pretty good starting point on a setup. After spending some time the last few days with Drew, I’m really excited about having him in our car. He really has a lot of race smarts. He ran in the Pro Cup Series races at Iowa the last two years and has been very fast there.
I think being familiar with the track will help ease his nerves as he makes his Nationwide Series debut. Having Wayne Grubb as a spotter and driver coach will be a huge benefit for both Drew and our team. Wayne drove in the Nationwide Series before so he’ll be able to help Drew with his lines. At the same time, he is one of our mechanics so we’ll have an eye in the sky seeing how the car is reacting in all four corners of the track and be able to provide good feedback.”
