Paul Menard on racing at Iowa Speedway:
“I am looking forward to racing at Iowa. I have never run there but my Roush Fenway Racing teammates had success there in the inaugural race in 2009, so I am leaning on them for guidance. Our ultimate goal is too run upfront and be in contention when the checkered flag falls.”
Crew chief Matt Puccia on racing at Iowa Speedway:
“We have had fast cars over the past several weeks and have been able to secure a top five and top ten finish and we expect the same at Iowa. Brian Ickler will be setting up the car for Paul and we will be focusing on our race trim for this fast track.”
REWIND, CLERMONT, Ind…
Paul Menard rolled off the grid in the Kroger 200 Nationwide Race in the fourth position on Saturday night at O’Reilly Raceway Park. Menard had a solid car right from the start. Running the first 75 green flag laps in the top five, Menard’s feedback to crew chief Matt Puccia was that the car was pushing in the center and was just a little loose off. The crew would only make minor adjustment during the night during fast pit stops that kept Menard in contention during the race. Menard’s Richmond/Menards Ford Fusion became tight center and slowed the car down a bit. Menard and the leaders all stayed out for the green-white-checkered finish where the veteran driver slipped two positions to take the checkered flag in the ninth position.
MENARDS ON THE TRACK… In addition to their partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and the No. 98 Ford Fusion NASCAR Nationwide Series team, Menards is also affiliated with the racing ventures: Matt Crafton and Frank Kimmel, as well as the No. 98 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford Fusion entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
