QUOTES

Paul Menard on racing at Watkins Glen: “I really enjoy road courses and am looking forward to the Glen. I have had two top ten finishes there and expect that with the setup and strategy that Matt (Puccia) and I have, we will be very competitive this weekend.”

Crew chief Matt Puccia on racing at Watkins Glen: “We have the same car that we had at Road America where we ran up front most of the race. We need to qualify up front and keep Paul out of trouble on the track and if we do that, will be in contention for a win.”

REWIND, Newton, IA… Paul Menard rolled off the grid in the U.S. Cellular 250 Nationwide Race in the 30th position on Saturday night at Iowa Speedway. Menard had a good car early, saying that it was “a bit tight in the center of the corner.” The veteran driver entered the pits under caution on lap 43 in the 13th position.

The crew started out with a 12.8 second pit stop sending the Mastercraft / Menards Ford Fusion off pit road in the seventh position.Menard’s Ford Fusion started to tighten up from that point on and he began to drop back in the pack. On lap 93, he was caught up in a wreck that damaged the right side of the car.

The crew worked diligently to repair the damage in four subsequent pit stops. Menard said his car never felt the same but the wheelman stayed focused and was able to salvage a 16th place finish.

MENARDS ON THE TRACK… In addition to their partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and the No. 98 Ford Fusion NASCAR Nationwide Series team, Menards is also affiliated with the racing ventures: Matt Crafton and Frank Kimmel, as well as the No. 98 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford Fusion entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
