REWIND, Watkins Glen, NY – Paul Menard rolled off the grid in the Zippo 200 Nationwide Race in the seventh position on Saturday at Watkins Glen International. Menard had a good car early on saying it was just a bit tight turning to the right on the 2.45-mile road course. Crew chief Matt Puccia called Menard to the pits on lap 12 for four fresh tires, fuel and air pressure and wedge adjustments with the hope that the changes would help the veteran turn better in the corners. Menard was running in the top 10 for much of the race which helped him avoid a multi-car wreck on lap 23 which collected 10 cars.

As the laps clicked off, Menard’s next opportunity to pit came on lap 47. However, a speeding penalty on pit road cost the Ford driver track position. He would restart in 16th. The wheelman battled back into the top 10 when the caution was displayed on lap 63 due to debris from Menard’s No. 98 car. After making a trip to pit road to allow the crew to look over the car, Menard returned to the track in the 22nd position with only 13 laps to go. From there, Menard ran several fast laps and picked up five positions in the running order and crossed the finish line in the 17th position.
