RICKY STENHOUSE JR. IN THE No. 6 CITIFINANCIAL FORD WAS THE TOP RAYBESTOS ROOKIE IN TONIGHT’S RACE AT BRISTOL.
Stenhouse Jr. was credited with a 22nd-place finish and claimed Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the sixth time this season. He was the top rookie honors in both Bristol races this season.
STENHOUSE JR.: YOU WERE RUNNING INSIDE THE TOP-10 WITH 15 LASP T GO AND HAD A CUT TIRE.
“Yes sir, that seems to be, you know, all year, just can’t catch a break. I know we had a fast car. Even thought we didn’t qualify well we kept digging there in the race and had a top-10 car there at the end and that’s what we’re looking for for the rest of the season. We just had one get away from us there, cut a left rear tire down there and ended up having to change it. But we had a good strong run and we can build on that.”
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOU HAD A FLAT?
“Well as soon as it happened I think the 42 got in the left rear there when the 11 and 32 were crashing. As soon as he hit us I said check the left rear and by the time we got back around it was flat.”
“We kept it pretty clean all night. I kept the fenders clean until there at the end. It was a tough one. We drove hard. The guys did good on pit road to get us some spots and we just came up a little bit short there with the flat tire. But all in all I think it was a good night for our Citifinancial team and I felt like we were one of the better Roush cars there at the end. We passed Carl [Edwards] on the racetrack which felt pretty good. Wish we could have stayed there.”
CAN YOU TAKE SOMETHING POSITIVE FROM TONIGHT BY HOW WELL YOU RAN?
“Definitely take something positive out of it. We’re bummed about the finish and all upset about it and pretty mad but overall it was a positive race for us. That’s what we’ve been doing for the last month and a half and we’re just going to keep doing it.”
