  • Braun Racing acquired by Turner Motorsports… Last week, it was announced that Turner Motorsports acquired select assets of Braun Racing.  The team will continue to operate as Braun Racing for the remainder of the 2010 season. Plans for Turner Motorsports in 2011 include fielding three entries in both the Camping World Truck Series and the Nationwide Series (NNS). The NNS driver lineup will be announced in October.

Terri Miller, Vice President of Marketing for Great Clips, Inc., had this to say about the acquisition by Turner Motorsports

“Over the years we have grown the Great Clips brand in partnership with a tremendous race team, Braun Racing.  We are very excited as we once again see Braun Racing take our brand to the next level with Turner Motorsports.”

  • Inaugural Polesitter at Kansas Speedway… Leffler made history in 2001 when he captured the pole in Kansas Speedway’s inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event.  Additionally, he has claim to a Camping World Truck Series pole at the track from 2002.  This weekend, he will go for the sweep as he looks to add a Nationwide Series pole award to his collection.  Always a strong qualifier at Kansas, he has started sixth or better in a combined total of 10 career starts between each of NASCAR’s top-three series.
  • Leffler at Kansas, by the numbers… In six Nationwide Series starts at Kansas, Leffler has one top-10 and four top-20 finishes. He has an average start of 14.0 and an average finish of 17.7 with only on DNF.  His best NNS performance at Kansas came one year ago when he captured an eighth-place finish after starting 23rd.
  • Two Great Clips Camry’s on the track at Kansas… Jason Leffler will be joined by James Buescher in sporting a Great Clips paint scheme. Buescher will pilot the No. 11 entry for Braun Racing.
  • Leffler on SIRIUS’ Morning Drive every Wednesday…

Don’t forget to tune in to SIRIUS Radio’s “Morning Drive” with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone every Wednesday at 10:30am to hear Leffler’s take on recent events in the Nationwide Series and what you can expect from the week’s upcoming race.

  • Did you know?   Great Clips is the longest-running sponsor in the Nationwide Series…Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc. came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder. Kasey Kahne drove the car from 2003-2005, before Leffler took over the wheel in 2006.

Leffler on Kansas Speedway

“Kansas is a lot of fun because it has multiple grooves that allow for a lot of passing and three-wide racing. I have always qualified pretty well there and had some strong runs but just haven’t had the finishes to show for it. We are looking to change that this weekend. I got the very first Cup pole at Kansas back in 2001 and I also have a Truck pole there. I’d really like to go for the sweep and grab the Nationwide Series pole this weekend. Our intermediate program has been solid this year so I feel pretty confident going into this weekend that we have a very good shot at being a contender for the win!”

Equipment Information

The No. 38 Great Clips team will unload chassis #023 in this weekend’s Kansas Lottery 300.  Leffler piloted chassis #023 in races at Chicagoland Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
