CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 29, 2010) – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hopes to celebrate more than just his birthday on Saturday, Oct. 2nd in Kansas. The rookie, who will be 23, looks to become the first NASCAR Nationwide Series driver to win on his/her birthday and the youngest ever to do so in NASCAR history. Cale Yarborough (twice) and Kyle Busch have won a Cup race on their birthdays and Ron Hornaday (twice) has been to victory lane in the Truck Series on his birthday.

Stenhouse also has the Raybestos Rookie of the Year lead in his sights. Just one point out of the top spot in the rookie standings, Stenhouse has momentum on his side. In his last three races, he has one top-five and two top-10s with an average finish of eighth during that span.

“Kansas is going to be good for a lot of reasons,” said Stenhouse. “My family will be there to celebrate my birthday but we’ve also got some business to take care of as a team. These CitiFinancial guys have been working so hard on improving each week and we are on a roll. We need another solid run in Kansas to keep pushing toward that rookie of the year title. It’s important to me, to Jack (Roush), to this team and to everyone at Roush Fenway Racing to win it and we plan on doing everything we can to make it happen. It would also be an honor to be the first Nationwide driver to win while celebrating a birthday. Cale (Yarborough), Kyle (Busch) and Ron (Hornaday) have done it in other series’ so joining them would be awesome.”

Catch Stenhouse and the No. 6 team in the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2010 with race coverage beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.
