KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 3, 2010) - Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Jimmy John’s team started the Kansas Lottery 300 from the third spot, lead the race four times for 43 laps and rebounded from early pit stop issues to finish fourth.

“We had a really good car today, but had a few mistakes on pit road cost us positions,” said Harvick following the race. “We were able to battle back and get another solid top-five finish.”

Buckling in for 200 laps around the 1.5 mile track of Kansas Speedway, Harvick started the race third and by lap 14 was leading the field as the fastest car on the track. Moving in on traffic, Harvick began to put cars a lap down and gave the lead up to Kyle Busch on lap 23. Making their way through lapped cars, Harvick and Busch battled for the lead with Harvick retaking the top spot on lap 48 with 14 cars on the lead lap.

As the race continued under green, Harvick made his way to pit road on lap 54 for four tires and fuel. With the field cycling through pit stops, Harvick was scored in the second position on lap 62 behind Busch. Running a full second behind the leader, Harvick radioed crew chief Ernie Cope that the car was too loose and the team began devising a plan for the next stop. The team caught a break when the caution waved on lap 67 for a spin giving the team an opportunity to adjust on the No. 33 Chevrolet. Pitting on lap 68 from the second position, the team changed four tires, added fuel and made a wedge adjustments. A slow stop by the team shuffled Harvick back to the fifth position on the lap 71 restart.

Harvick quickly moved into the fourth position as the caution waved again on lap 76 and the team opted to stay on track and restart the race fourth on lap 81. Several laps later, a spin by the 18 car, who was leading the race, brought out the caution and Harvick again pitted for four tires, fuel and a track-bar adjustment. With teams opting for various pit strategies of fuel only versus four tires and fuel, Harvick restarted 13th on lap 94.

Patiently working his way through traffic, Harvick was able to retake the lead on lap107 telling the crew that the car was much better after the last set of changes.

With Harvick continuing to lead the field, oil on the track brought the caution out again on lap 115. The team opted to pit for four tires and fuel. Again various pit strategies mixed the field, but a solid stop by the team put Harvick as the second car with four scuff tires when the race restarted on lap 123. Wasting no time, Harvick moved back into the lead on lap 124.

A quick caution on lap 126 slowed the field for the fifth time. Harvick remained on track and restarted the race on lap 131 from the lead position only to have the caution displayed again on lap 132. Restarting the race on lap 137, Harvick slipped to third by lap 142.

Closing in on the final laps of the 200-lap event, Harvick made his final trip to pit road on lap 176 for four fresh tires with an air-pressure adjustment and fuel. With the field cycling through stops, Harvick moved up to sixth by lap 188 when the caution waved for a spin by the 17 car. The top three cars chose to pit and Harvick restarted on lap 194 only to have another on-track incident bring out the caution on lap 195. The race restarted on lap 197 with Harvick in the third position. Losing one position, Harvick crossed the finish line on lap 200 in the fourth position.

Joey Logano defended his 2009 Kansas Speedway win followed by Brad Keselowski, Busch, Harvick and Martin Truex Jr.
