Mooresville, NC (Jan. 19, 2010) – Professional athletes from two major league sports in the Charlotte area will come together for the 4th Annual Race Night presented by Autotrader.com this Friday, January 22, 2010. USAR Pro Cup Series Rookie Cory Joyce, along with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano and other drivers from the Nationwide and ARCA Series’, will be available for an autograph session prior to the Checkers’ game versus Wheeling.

This year’s event will mark the third Race Night for Joyce. “Hockey is an intense sport just like racing, so it’s really a good fit to pair up the two for Race Night,” Joyce said. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the event for three years now and look forward to the autograph session and the game.”

The No. 33 Cory Joyce Racing Chevrolet, donning special Charlotte Checker’s logos, will also be on display in the concourse of the arena at the autograph session. In addition to the driver appearances, each Checkers player will wear a special jersey with the number of an attending racer. The special jerseys signed by the drivers and worn by the hockey team will be auctioned off live at the conclusion of the game. Proceeds from the night’s festivities will go to Speedway Children’s Charities, benefitting children in need.

Volunteering is important aspect of the Joyce’s lifestyle, and he makes it a priority to fit events like Race Night into his busy schedule. “Getting involved in a night where I can greet fans and benefit children through the efforts of the Speedway Children’s Charities at the same time is a special opportunity, and I’m proud to be involved,” Cory expressed.

The event will be held at the Time Warner Cable Arena in downtown Charlotte. The autograph session runs from 6:00-6:45 pm in the concourse area, with the Checkers hitting the ice at 7:00 pm. Tickets for the game are available online at gocheckers.com or by calling the Checkers main office.
