ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (May 10, 2010) – Clay Rogers possesses the history, but Caleb Holman owns the momentum as the top two in the USARacing Pro Cup Series point standings take their title battle to Rockingham Speedway for the May 15 Carolina 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto.

Since the USAR Pro Cup Series made its debut at “The Rock” in November 2008, Rogers has been the only driver to visit victory lane. In the first event, he qualified eighth, then led seven laps in the 200-lap race before emerging victorious. Last year, the Mooresville, N.C., native dominated the 150-lap race. He earned the pole and led 108 laps before taking the checkered flag.

This year, however, Holman has produced two victories in the season’s first three races. The Abingdon, Va., driver led 126 of 250 laps at New Smyrna [Fla.] Speedway in gaining his first victory since 2008. Two weeks later, he backed it up with a trip to victory lane at Hickory [N.C.] Motor Speedway after Rogers’ Ford’s overheating problem sidelined him with 14 laps remaining. The final 14 laps were the only ones Holman led in the event.

In qualifying, the roles have been reversed this year. Holman earned the pole for the first race, which Rogers won, but then Rogers claimed the No. 1 starting position for the next two events in which Holman emerged victorious. That means the WIX Challenge, a bonus that goes to the person who earns the pole and wins the race, now stands at $4,000 since no one has claimed it in the first three events. The bonus increases by $1,000 each time it isn’t awarded.

Practice for the Carolina 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto begins Friday, May 14, at 9:55 a.m. with qualifying scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The USAR Pro Cup series only race on a 1-mile track is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15.

The USARacing Pro Cup Series, formerly Hooters Pro Cup, is owned by Interstate Investment Group and is based in Concord, N.C. IIG is comprised of Jack McNelly, Gary Kale, Carl Hubbard, Chip Lofton and Larry Camp, who serves as the managing partner.
