ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (May 11, 2010) – Recording star Matt Dylan will perform the National Anthem Saturday at Rockingham Speedway’s Carolina 200 Saturday, May 15. Dylan recorded the themes to Red Dirt Rising, the new film about the formative years of stock car racing,

“We’re proud to host rising star Matt Dylan,” said track owner Andy Hillenburg. “He obviously loves racing and we’re sure our fans will love him just as much.”

Music fans and racing fans unite in applauding Dylan. According to his web site: “A lot of folks CLAIM they are country but Matt Dylan IS.”

Having opened for a stellar collection of artists including Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, Delbert McClinton and more, he started his career with a gift guitar at age eight.

In 2004, amid touring nationwide with his band Tombstone, Dylan’s first single “Let’s Get It On” soared to No. 2 on several Indie charts and was featured on radio compilation CDs with songs from major stars including Shania Twain, Alan Jackson and others.

More than a musician, Dylan writes songs including “If You Knew” and “Take Me Back to the Farm”, staples of live shows. Recent songs such as “Changes”, “Between the Bourbon and The Bible” and “The Price” are defining the man and the roads he has traveled.

Racing action for the Carolina 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto Service weekend gets underway on Thursday, May 13 with practice and qualifying for the Friday, May 14 running of the Sunoco National Tour cars. Practice and qualifying for the UARA Late Model Series and the USARacing take to the track beginning at 9:30 on Friday, May 14. The Sunoco National Tour cars take to the track for their 100-lap tilt at 4:00 on May 14. The UARA portion of the Carolina 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto Service takes the green flag on Saturday, May 15 at 11 am with the USARacing Pro Cup to follow at approximately 1 pm.
