Chris Wimmer Eyes Elko Speedway
Press Release
events, Chris Wimmer heads across the border into Minnesota for the Elko 100 and the
second ASAMT race of the year. “I raced a few times since the ASAMT opener in Madison”, says Wimmer, “But I’m really excited to get to Elko and get another Midwest Tour race under my belt this year.”
Wimmer, fresh off a top-five finish at the ASAMT opener in Madison, hopes to keep that momentum rolling to Elko, a place where he’s had recent success. Last Fall Wimmer battled with Dan Fredrickson for over 75-laps for the win at Elko, it was Fredrickson who took the checkers, but that run gives Wimmer added confidence going in to the weekend. “That fall race last year my car was really good,” says Wimmer, “Dan’s raced at Elko so long and knows how to get around that place so well I knew he’d be tough to beat, but hopefully we can get the #52 just as good or better than last year for the race
this Saturday.”
This race at Elko also kicks off a busy month for Wimmer and the ASA Midwest Tour. After Elko, the Tour heads to Cedar Rapids, IA June 11th, Illiana Speedway June 18th, and then back to Madison International Speedway June 29th. In between those races, Wimmer also competes at State Park Speedway. “This month is going to be a bit crazy,”
says Wimmer, “The ASA schedule really picks up, we race almost every weekend, and even on the off weeks, I’m racing the Newsline Nine House Car at State Park Speedway. It’s going to be a lot of work, but I’m looking forward to being at the track one, if not two, times a week.”
Qualifying takes place at 4pm Saturday at Elko Speedway in Minnesota, with racing set to start at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. For more information on the
