Bubba Pollard Races Way To Top Of Gresham Motorsports Park Hoosier Tire Points Standings

JEFFERSON, GA (June 23, 2010) – One new face and some familiar ones as well – were at the top of the Hoosier Tire Points Championship after Saturday’s thrilling six-division racing program at Gresham Motorsports Park.

Bubba Pollard took the lead in the Super Late Model standings in the strength of a second-place finish in the Chapman Pools 100 Presented By Papa John’s Pizza headliner. Pollard was less than a car length behind winner Jimmy Garmon at the finish and has a 295-255 lead over Jason Hogan and Greg Simpson in the standings. Chase Elliott fourth with 240 markers while Mike Garvey – who crashed hard in Turn 3 Saturday – is fifth in the Hoosier Super Late Model championship at GMP.

Meanwhile, Garmon’s victory – officially his first since April 30, 2005 at GMP and then Peach State Speedway – boosted him to sixth in the title battle just 58 points out of the top spot.

In other GMP Hoosier Championship division standings, Jason Bates boosted his point lead to 55 points over Mike Davidson (780-725) in the 2010 GMP Outlaw Late Model tally. Bates won the first two races of the season at GMP before hitting a dry spell – a streak he ended with another OLM main event victory last Saturday.

Brittany Finley continued her torrid streak of late winning her second-straight GMP Truck Series main event last weekend. Finley also has a 40-point lead over Joel Townsend and Bill Hoose (600-560) with Brandon Franklin (525) and Jeremy Parris (495) completing the Top-5 in the Truck standings.

Spanky Hicks aced another win Saturday and boosted his lead over Tim Greer to 105 points in the Mini-Stock division while Doug Sexton is well on his way to a the champions trophy, a host of Hoosier goodies, and some season point fund in the Renegade Street Stocks leading that class by a whopping 330-point lead over Vernon Hicks.

Drivers with the highest season totals with be crowned as champions in each division prior to the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park on Sunday, November 14.

Sideways tire-smoking action is next up on the Gresham Motorsports Park calendar when Southeast Drift invades GMP this Saturday. Both pro and amateur divisions are scheduled for six hours of radical lit up action – plus – ATL Freestyle will be here with a thrilling program of mind-bending motorcycle stunt action. Spectator admission is just $10 bucks and gates open at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.

Gresham Motorsports Park will also host the Opening Ceremonies for the Dizzy Dean 13-Year-Old Baseball World Series presented by US Auto Sales on Thursday evening, July 14.

Hosted by the Jackson County Parks And Recreation Department – the Opening Ceremonies will include a Parade of Teams, a racing demonstration on the GMP half-mile oval, games and go karts from Funopolis Family Fun Center, and a fireworks show right after dark.

The event is open to the public free of charge and GMP will be selling Buy One, Get One Free Adult Grandstand and Trackside Parking general admission tickets that evening to the Saturday, July 17 World Series of Speed event.

Joining the CRA Supers on Saturday, July 17 will be the Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Renegades, Mini-Stocks and Mini-Cups. There will also be a special motorcycle thrill show to round out the exciting night of racing action.
