What do you get when you stick the NFL into a blender with NASCAR and flip the switch?

Just ask Coy Gibbs, son of Joe Gibbs. That’s what Gibbs, 37, did when he formed Joe Gibbs Racing Motocross in 2008.

Professional motocross racing is returning to Buchanan for Saturday’s 37th annual Red Bud National. Gibbs’ Muscle Milk /Toyota team, which fields Yamahas for riders Josh Grant and Justin Brayton, will be among those competing in the race that will air live at 3:30 p.m. on NBC.

Gibbs previously raced in NASCAR’s Nationwide and Camping World Trucks. He then joined his dad in 2004 when Joe Gibbs went back to coaching Washington. Gibbs, who played linebacker at Stanford University, served as the team’s offensive quality control assistant.

Gibbs kept his passion for racing and football in mind when forming the motocross team.
