Fadden Racing Gresham Motorsports Park Preview

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East

Julian Albarracin – #54 Chevrolet

This will be Julian’s third start this season. He previously competed at Lime Rock Park and Lee USA Speedway. At LRP, Albarracin qualified 10th fastest, led 11 laps in the race, and finished 21st after having to park the No. 54 with a blown engine. Lee USA Speedway in July marked Albarracin’s first oval course appearance where he finished 22nd after getting collected in a late-race multi-car wreck.

Albarracin’s background is primarily on road courses with extensive experience in the Skip Barber Series. In 2008, Albaraccin placed second in the Mid Western Regional championship points and then backed that up with a seventh place finish in the National point standings in 2009. In just nine starts last season, Albarracin posted one top-five and seven top-10 finishes. He began his career in Karts in 2001 and also competed in Formula Renault where he traveled to Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico to race.

The 16-year-old Columbian native has been busy this summer gaining valuable seat time. Albarracin has tested behind the wheel of his No. 54 K&N Pro Series East car and competed in Late Model races in an effort to gain as much seat time as possible. Thusfar, he has spent time at short tracks such as White Mountain Motorsports Park in New Hampshire, Lee (NH) USA Speedway, and Thompson (CT) International Speedway to hone his oval track skills.

After the K&N Pro Series East 150 at Lee USA Speedway, Albarracin headed home to his native Columbia to begin classes. He returned just this week to prepare for the race at Gresham Motorsports Park.

The car Fadden Racing is bringing to Georgia this week is named Dr. D. It was driven previously by Max Dumarey and Jonathan Smith.

Albarracin will have a teammate in Tyler Laing, who will be driving a second car for Fadden Racing this weekend. Laing will be driving the No. 61 in a one-race deal.

Julian on Gresham Motorsports Park:

“I think because a lot of the competitors have not been to Gresham Motorsports Park, I’ll be on a more level playing field with them as far as track experience goes, but we’re going there with a goal of a top-15 finish. As a driver, I want better, and I’ll be trying for at least a top-10. This year is all about learning, learning, learning, and this race will only be my second oval course. I’m pretty excited about that.”
