MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 26, 2010) – Heinke Baldwin Racing (HBR) driver Erick Rudolph is not slowing down during the one-month break in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) schedule. Three short days after the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Rudolph and the HBR team won the TQ Midget race at Dunn Tire Raceway Park.

Rudolph started 14th at the Lancaster, N.Y., speedway. A lap-two spin marred the Ransomville, N.Y., native to the back of the 22-car field. By lap 15, Rudolph worked his way up to the third-place spot, with his sights set on the leader.

As the white flag dropped, Rudolph drove into turn one at the half-mile asphalt oval and maneuvered around race leader Arik McGruder to take the checkered flag in his first TQ Midget race since 2008.

“It was good to be back in a TQ car,” explained the 18-year-old racer. “I haven’t run one in a while, so it was great to have a win my first time out. Coming up through the field was fun, and I had a good car. We had a great battle in the front at the end of the race.”

Coming off the win, Rudolph hopes to continue his momentum throughout the NWMT month-long hiatus. He will race a modified at Ransomville Speedway, a half-mile dirt track, on Friday, August 27 and then return to Dunn Tire Raceway Park for the modified 100-lap race on Saturday, August 28.

“I am looking forward to this weekend,” said Rudolph. “It will be nice to race near my hometown and hang out with my friends at the track. I love competing in the Whelen Tour, but most of my friends and family can’t watch me race live. A month off of Tour racing allows me to compete at this level, which is exciting. I am grateful that HBR gets me in the racecar during the off-weeks too.”

The NWMT will return to action September 18 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the F.W. Webb 100.
