Sparta, WI, September 20, 2010 — ASA Midwest Touring star Tim Schendel and the Iron Eagle Racing team headed to Clermont, Indiana over the weekend where Schendel competed in the Welch & Wilson Motorsports Rock n Race 100 presented by Gas America at O’Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday, September 18. Schendel grabbed a tenth place finish.

Schendel had two practice runs before qualifying the #21 TexPar Energy Chevrolet. He qualified tenth and started the race in that position after the invert. Throughout the race, Schendel did not really move from that spot. Tight racing and hard to pass racing conditions hampered his efforts to move up. Schendel also found the set up on the car not exactly right, causing handling to be tight.

“Although I raced at O’Reilly Raceway before, it was in a truck, not a car.” Schendel said. “We had limited practice time on the track and perhaps not enough time to really get the set-up right.”

“I wish the car would have been less tight in it’s handling. It did seem to loosen up towards the end.” Schendel said after the race. “It wasn’t enough to time to gain any positions. All in all, I liked the track and it was fun racing in another series. If we go back, we now have some history to fall back on and get the set up tweaked.”

A regular in the ASA Midwest Series, Schendel sits in sixth place in overall series points, only thirty two points outside of fifth place. Going into the last race of the season, it is one of the closest point races in ASA Midwest Series history. Although Schendel is 155 points outside of first, only two points seperate the top two contenders, Steve Carlson and Scott Wimmer. The last race of the season is slated for October 10 where the ASA Champion will be determined.
