Stephen Nasse Goes Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month At North Wilkesboro

“USARacing Pro Cup Rookie Will Honor Grandmother With Support of Pink for October Campaign”

CONCORD, NC (September 29, 2010) – Not many drivers would volunteer to change the color of their racecar to pink. But pink is not just a racecar color; it means so much more to someone who has lost a loved one to breast cancer. On Sunday, October 3rd Nasse will carry the color pink along with ribbon decals in a tribute to his Grandmother and all of those who have fallen victim to breast cancer during the USARacing Pro Cup Brushy Mountain 250 at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina.

“Our entire family has always supported breast cancer awareness ever since my Grandmother passed away back in 2001,” said Nasse. “It means a whole lot to my family to do the events, the walks and programs to honor not only our loss, but to help others prevent this from happing to them.

“This is the first time that we have gotten to put the support of breast cancer awareness on one of our racecars,” added Nasse. “It’s ironic that my grandmother passed away on October 31st, which is in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It sure would nice if we could honor her with a victory.”

This will be Nasse’s first race at North Wilkesboro, but it will also be the first race there for many of the Pro Cup Series’ drivers. The Brushy Mountain 250 is just the second major racing event at North Wilkesboro since the track closed in 1996. Pro Cup drivers have already taken to the track for practice sessions and should be ready to go 250 laps this coming weekend.

“I was really impressed with the race track as each straightaway has a different feel too it,” said Nasse. “You have to look at the third turn and the first turn with a different approach. The frontstretch is downhill and it’s real easy to get into there too hot. The backstretch into turn three is not as noticeable, but it really makes it challenging.”

Nasse sits 13th in points, and looks to improve on his career-best finish of third at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida earlier this year. Nasse has logged three top-10 runs in his rookie campaign in the Pro Cup Series.

Racing starts on Saturday, October 2nd at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) with practice and qualifying. The following day, October 3rd, will be race day and chance to make the color pink shine in the North Carolina sun.
