Jefferson, GA. – Brittany Finley may have lost the battle at Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park last Saturday night but when all was said and done, she won the war with a sixth place finish in the final Truck Series race of the season.

The finish was good enough to secure the championship by 143 points over Joel Townshend, who ended up 13th.

Finley started on the outside of Alexander Fox on row one and took the lead on the second lap only to see Fox get back around her two laps later. After some side by side racing, she was spun on lap six which led track officials to put her to the rear of the field.

Finley made her march towards the front determined to work her way back up but ended up finishing with a top ten which was good enough for her to become the first ever female track champion at Gresham.

“I don’t even know where to start,” said Finley. “I want to thank my dad, my mom, and all of my crew for their extra hard work and dedication. Without any of them I couldn’t have accomplished such an amazing feat, I finally got me a championship!”

Bill Hoose finished third in the championship standings with Brandon Franklin fourth and Jeremy Parris rounding out the top-five.

Finley finished her championship season with two wins, seven top-fives and one top-10. She also holds the track qualifying record at Gresham.

Things are just starting to heat up for the 24 year old Ardmore, Ala. native as she will prepare for a trip to Charlotte October 17 – 19, to attend The Drive for Diversity program which is the industry’s leading development program for minority and female drivers and crew members.

Diversity is NASCAR’s top corporate initiative. NASCAR has been instrumental in assisting The 909 Group in the development of the Drive for Diversity program.

The competitors will enter “academy-style” development under a single team ownership structure with Revolution Racing. Drive for Diversity drivers compete in nearly 200 events at NASCAR home tracks across the country each year.
