Points Lead Opens Up For Clay Rogers Heading Into South Boston

CONCORD, N.C.(Oct. 18, 2010)– Things could be more challenging for Clay Rogers.

Rogers enters the November 6 USARacing Pro Cup Series season finale at South Boston (Va.) Speedway with a 79-point lead over Caleb Holman. Rogers enters the final race of the season fresh off a victory October 9 in the Keith Whitaker Chevrolet 250 at Greenville-Pickens (S.C) Speedway, his first in the Championship Series.

Rogers returns to a track where a scored a dominating victory June 12 in the Strutmasters.com 250 at the .400-mile Virginia speedway. Rogers has a firm grasp his second consecutive series title and fourth overall, tying him Bobby Gill for most in series history. The Mooresville, N.C. resident led 118 of the 250 laps earlier this season at South Boston and took the checkered flag 2.708 seconds ahead of second-place Matt Lofton.

Holman scored a fifth-place finish at Greenville-Pickens, his sixth top-five in 2010 and third of the 2010 Championship series. He scored a 15th-place finish earlier this season at South Boston after parking his car early due to mechanical issues.

Jeff Agnew is currently third in points. Agnew, a Floyd, Va. native, got his first win in two years at Concord (N.C.) Speedway and went on to win the Brushy Mountain 250 from the pole at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway. He won his first pole of the 2010 season in June at South Boston Speedway in June.

Rounding out the top 5 in points are J.P Morgan and A.J. Frank respectively. Morgan has led 158 laps in three Championship Series races while Frank has finished in the top-five in two of the three Championship Series.

Leading Raybestos® Rookie Logan Ruffin has claimed five top-five finishes so far this season and has led 184 laps. He scored a season-best fourth-place finish at South Boston.

The Strutmasters.com 300 at South Boston Speedway will crown the 2010 USARacing Pro Cup Series Champion on Saturday, Nov. 6. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 2 p.m. for an exciting 300-lap race.
