LAS VEGAS (Nov. 20) — The GEICO Powersports AMA EnduroCross series came to an exciting close at The Orleans Arena as Geoff Aaron rode his bike to a runner up finish to 2010 champ Taddy Blazusiak.

“I’ve been putting in a lot this year and try to do the best I can,” Aaron said. “I had a good year and I’m happy with the results. The podium is a pretty good place to finish the season.”

The GEICO Powersports rider said he is proud to finish second in the points and the season finale, but is also looking forward to the offseason. Aaron is looking to use the time off to come back even stronger for 2011 and challenge Blazusiak for the championship.

“I’m hoping to make some more bike changes and make improvements there,” Aaron said. “I’ve got to train harder, try to go faster and hopefully fight for the championship.”

Aaron’s teammate Kyle Redmond also made an appearance in the main event Saturday night but took the long way to get there. Redmond worked hard to squeeze into the show in the Last Chance Qualifier.

“The heat races didn’t go very well, I was really struggling in the rock straightaway,” Redmond said. “I don’t know what the deal was, usually I’m pretty good in the rocks. I went to the LCQ and had a pretty good battle going there and I was able to edge them out.”

Even with all his struggles, Redmond still managed to finish seventh in the event and fifth in the final championship standings.

Owner of the GEICO Powersports team, JT Bennett, said he is very happy with his team’s finish in the season’s finale.

“The day went pretty well,” Bennett said, “we were hoping to be on top of the box but Geoff and Kyle battled it out.”

Bennett is proud of all of his GEICO Powersports riders, but especially Aaron and Redmond who qualified for the final main event of the season.

“Geoff is solid and a great guy to have on the team,” Benentt said. “I’m looking forward to working with again next year and winning the championship. What can you say about Kyle? He scrapped all day and got the final transfer spot and worked hard in the final.”

Matt Crouch flew the GEICO Powersports colors all season and worked extremely hard in his rookie season but he did not have as successful of a season as he was hoping. Crouch’s efforts this season didn’t go unnoticed as he was honored with The Spirit of EnduroCross award for the 2010 season.

“It’s nice, I really wasn’t expecting it but it’s cool,” Crouch said. “It’s cool that they’re supporting the people who are supporting the series.”

Crouch failed to qualify for the main event but is really looking forward to see what the 2011 season will bring.

“I rode real well today during all my practices,” Crouch said, “I just didn’t ride as good at night as I rode during the day. I’m definitely looking forward to next season, it’s going to be a very interesting year next year for sure.”

Ryan Rodgers struggled most of the season with his riding but is hoping that the 2011 season will bring a little more luck if he puts in some more hard work on the offseason.

“I struggled a little bit again,” Reynolds said. “I rode well but made a few mistakes of my own and that was my day. I’m looking forward to the next season, I need to do some regrouping and hopefully find a little luck.”
