GRIFFIN, GA (December 28, 2010) – Max Gresham today announced he will compete in the 2011 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown – NASCAR’s top short-track racing showcase – at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (CA) January 28-29.

Gresham already has a guaranteed starting spot in the event billed as the ‘Daytona 500’ of short-track racing by virtue of his two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victories in 2010.

The 17-year-old Griffin, GA driver will wheel the No. 9 Davis Motorsports entry in the event.

“This is a great opportunity to race in one of NASCAR’s biggest short-track events,” said Gresham. “I’m really looking forward to driving for Davis Motorsports. They had a solid 2010 season with Kevin Swindell driving and they did pretty well at the Showdown last year. I know they will have a good car. With any luck, we will be able to contend for a top-five finish or even a win. That would be pretty special.”

The 2011 Showdown will mark the eighth running of the event and will bring together the top racers from across North America. The 225-lap NASCAR K&N Pro Series all-star race is broken up into three sections – two 100-lap segments preceding a 25-lap dash to the finish. The race features drivers like Gresham who have secured starting spots thanks to 2010 NASCAR touring division championships and K&N Pro Series event winners.

Drivers with guaranteed starting spots besides Gresham include three-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West winner Eric Holmes and back-to-back K&N Pro Series East champ Ryan Truex.

D.J. Kennington (NASCAR Canadian Tire Series), Bobby Santos (NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour), Burt Myers (NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour), German Quiroga (NASCAR Mexico Series) and Keith Rocco (NASCAR Whelen All-American Series) also have guaranteed spots in the show as do K&N Pro Series race winners Ty Dillon, Paulie Harraka, Patrick Long, David Mayhew, Brett Moffitt, Andrew Ranger, Greg Pursley, Auggie Vidovich, and Darrell Wallace Jr.

SPEED will televise the Toyota All-Star Showdown live on Saturday, January 29 and will also telecast a 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model race and a 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model contest live on Friday, January 28.
