Mario Romancini and Conquest Racing Finish in Top Ten of the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test at Barber Motorsports Park
Press Release
Head engineer, Mike Pawlowski, was pleased with the results. “We had a couple good days of testing, and I’m very happy with Mario’s performance. I was really impressed with his speed and feedback. He was quick right away, and over the course of the two days he continued to improve his times. Overall I think Mario did a great job, and I am looking forward to working with him this season.”
Day one of testing was used to give Romancini as much seat time as possible to adjust to the car while the team learned the rookie’s driving style. With comfort established, the team switched gears on day two and utilized their time on track to test different setups and record data.
“I’m very happy to finish in the top ten today considering it was our first time at this track,” said Romancini. “Yesterday I spent the day just trying to learn the new car. I felt pretty comfortable in the car today so I was able to work with the engineers on a few different setups. We obviously still have some work to do, but I think these two days show that we have potential to be very competitive this season.”
Romancini heads down to Brazil this weekend to begin race preparations for the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season opener, the Saõ Paulo Indy 300, taking place in the streets of Saõ Paulo, Brazil on March 13 and 14.
