Kansas City,  KS (April 30, 2010)- Conquest Racing rookie Bertrand Baguette qualified 19th for Saturday’s Road Runner Turbo Indy 300.  Mario Romancini did not qualify after he crashed in practice and will start 27th in tomorrow’s race.

Baguette experienced his first ever oval qualification exercise today, and he improved his times lap after lap over the four lap run posting an average speed of 209.344 mph. He will start his #36 RACB National Team car on the inside of row 10.

“It was my first experience on an oval, and I think it was my best qualification of the season so far,” commented Baguette.  I think with more experience I could do better, but it’s not so bad and we will see how the race goes tomorrow.”

Mario Romancini will start at the back of the field in the #34 Conquest Racing car after he made contact with the wall during the practice session. Coming out of turn three during a qualifying simulation run, Romancini came into some traffic and he lost control of his car making heavy contact with the wall.

“We were working on our qualifying setup, so we were trimming out the car,” explained Romancini. “I was in traffic and got loose, and it was too late to try and save it. It’s a shame that I won’t be able to qualify.  Hopefully we still can have a good race tomorrow.”
