KANSAS SPEEDWAY, KS. (May 1, 2010)-Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) team owner/driver, Sarah Fisher, and teammate, Jay Howard, finished in the 17th and 25th positions, respectively in Saturday afternoon’s Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway. It was a rough go around, as the duo struggled with the consistency of their cars throughout the 200-lap race on the 1.5-mile tri-oval.

After battling back from the rear of the field early in the race, Howard, driver of the No. 66 Service Central sponsored car, ended his day making contact with the turn-four wall on lap 172. He was released from the infield KU Med Center with no injuries.

“First of all, I would like to thank Service Central for all that they have done for us,” said Howard. “I just wish I could have given them a better result this weekend. As a team, we showed that we had speed, but we just need to work on consistency throughout the race. The month of May is a long month, so we’re going to take what we learned here on to Indy, and go from there.”

It was an overcast day in Kansas City, KS when SFR team owner/driver, Sarah Fisher, brought her No. 67 Dollar General Honda Powered Dallara across the finish line in 17th place.

“It was a long first day back today,” said Fisher. “The car didn’t really handle how we wanted it to in traffic, nor by itself, but we have some really good ideas about things we learned last year in Homestead that didn’t work on the chassis that we ran there, but should work for this one going into Indy. We had great pit stops today; the guys all worked really well together, even after changing some crew positions so that the 66 car could share some of our guys. The 67 car did a really good job today, so I was very happy with that. We’ve just got to do our homework a little bit better on front mechanical grip, but we’ll get there.”

Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon took the checkered flag, followed closely by his teammate Dario Franchitti.
